As previously reported, the GRAVITY director Alfonso Cuaron has now confirmed that he has no plans to direct the upcoming J.K. Rowling story. Cuaron has stated that he has no set plans for the near future and wishes to spend the summer with his family. This of course makes the previous news that he was “deep in talks” to direct the project, highly unlikely.

Cuaron is no stranger to the Harry Potter universe having previously directed HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN. And with his work on GRAVITY recently, he has proven that he can produce a visually stunning film.

FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM is based on a Hogwarts textbook of the same name. It is set seventy years before Harry Potter and features the character of Newt. Fans of Harry Potter will recognise many of the creatures featured in the rumoured trilogy and lots of new ones too.

Warner Bros has mentioned a release date of November 2016, so that gives plenty of time to find the right director for this eagerly awaited film.

Keep checking back for updates.
