Actress Nicole Kidman has just been cast in Adrian Lyne’s upcoming suspense film, THE SILENT WIFE. The film will be based on A. S. A. Harrison’s best-selling novel of the same title, using a script written by Billy Ray. The plot follows Kidman’s character, Jodi, a dutiful wife who sits idly by in her abusive relationship, until she discovers that her husband is leaving her for a younger woman. From there, things start to look all GONE GIRL, with Jodi playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse.
Lyne seems like the perfect choice to direct this film, having projects like FATAL ATTRACTION under her belt. Still, the suspense film formula that follows an obsessive or damaged member of a relationship is not a new storyline. We can only hope that Lyne will be adept in putting a new spin on this old tale.
