AMC have announced that THE WALKING DEAD is being renewed for a seventh season, once again to start in October of next year.
The news comes hot off the heels of last Sunday’s episode, which contained an apparent death of a major character and subsequently spawned enough social media activity to almost break Twitter.
It has also been announced that TWD’S aftershow THE TALKING DEAD will similarly be returning.
“We are so proud to share these shows with fans who have been so passionate, communicative and engaged” said Charlie Collier, president of AMC. “We are grateful for and continually impressed by the talent, effort and excellence on continuous display by Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, Chris Hardwick and the many, many people with whom we partner to make these unique shows possible”.
THE WALKING DEAD has become one of the hottest shows on TV and earlier this year spawned a companion series: FEAR THE WALKING DEAD, which is also expected to be picked up for a new season to air sometime in 2016.
