Paramount Pictures have taken their time in getting a sequel to the surprise action-horror hit WORLD WAR Z off the ground but things appear to be back on track after recent delays.

With Universal Pictures eyeing Paramount’s top choice J.A. Bayona for JURASSIC WORLD 2 and worried he was about to jump ship, the studio are fast-tracking the follow-up to the film (barely) based on Max Brooks’ bestselling book.

Brad Pitt, who scored his biggest ever commercial hit with Marc Forster’s 2013 film, will again star and produce via his Plan B banner and now UTOPIA creator Dennis Kelly will rewrite a draft previously penned by EASTERN PROMISES and LOCKE’s Steven Knight.
