SPIDER-MAN, now played by Tom Holland, will be going into the Marvel Cinematic Universe next year in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. Although we don’t know how much of an appearance the web-slinger will have in terms of involvement in the film, we are sure it’ll be brilliant to see the wall-crawler in some action with fellow superheroes.

2017 is when we get out first Marvel solo SPIDER-MAN film, but it might not be as solo as we first thought. The new and regular occurrence with the Marvel films, since 2012’s AVENGERS, sees fellow superheroes join their film for either cameo appearances or part of the storyline.

The second THOR film saw a brief cameo appearance from Chris Evans’ CAPTAIN AMERICA and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER saw Black Widow join in a big role, as well as a big role for Nick Fury. Next year’s CIVIL WAR film sees Iron Man, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, The Vision, Black Widow, War Machine, Falcon, Ant-Man and Hawkeye come together. Along with this, THOR: RAGNAROK will also be seeing the Hulk join up, so really these solo films are getting bigger and bigger as Marvel have discovered we want to see more superheroes in the smaller solo outings.

SPIDER-MAN will perhaps see no change there as the latest slight reveal may see Evans and Robert Downey Jr. come together. Last week, when the pair appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Evans commented on shooting in Atlanta, pointing out how hot the location was to shoot at. Robert Downey Jr. replied with this:

“By the way, we’re going to shoot in Atlanta again, you and I.”

Going through all the upcoming Marvel films, we know THOR: RAGNAROK is shooting in Australia, ruling that one out. James Gunn has made if clear GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: VOL 2. won’t be coming to Earth and DOCTOR STRANGE is shooting in London. The next AVENGERS films are too far away for shooting to commence anytime soon, so that only leaves SPIDER-MAN, which is the only possible film to be coming that could feature the pair once again.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard something like this, as originally Robert Downey Jr. was rumoured to be featuring in SPIDER-MAN as a small cameo role for the film. Chris Evans could be joining for a similar thing, especially when these two actors are the current pillars of the MCU and the leaders of the films.

We’ll have to hold out until filming perhaps starts to see if these tales go any further on whether they’re in the film or not, but at the moment we now don’t know when Downey Jr. and Evans’ next Marvel roles will be besides next year’s CIVIL WAR film.

SPIDER-MAN hits theatres on July 28, 2017.
