One character who’s drawn the short straw in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Bruce Banner, a.k.a Hulk, but the green hulking hero does manage to get his fair share of screen time despite not having an actual solo film.

Mark Ruffalo, who plays Banner/Hulk in the MCU, hasn’t received a solo film, being one of the only main AVENGERS to not get a standalone film. The actor had a large role in AVENGERS, getting plenty of screen time and also had a strong story arc in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, outside of that he got a nice appearance in IRON MAN 3’s post credit sequence.

Speaking of a solo film, Ruffalo reiterated what he’s said time and time again in a recent interview, about the control of a Hulk solo film and where it lies:

“I’d love to do a Hulk movie, but that’s beyond my control. It’s controlled by Universal. Marvel doesn’t even hold the rights to it. So, it’s not on the horizon. And I don’t know if it will be.”

Sadly, we could possibly never see a Hulk solo film, but despite that Marvel are allowed to use the character in anyway they want within films using variety of characters, which lands Hulk straight in the AVENGERS, but it also leaves doors open for appearances in other solo films, such as the upcoming THOR; RAGNAROK, where Banner will be teaming up with THOR for a cosmic journey.

“We’ve worked a really interesting arc into ‘Thor 3,’ ‘Avengers 3’ and ‘4’ for Banner that I think will — when it’s all added up — will feel like a Hulk movie, a standalone movie.”

So, it looks like we’ll be seeing a bigger picture for Banner/Hulk in the upcoming MCU and it looks like we’ll be seeing the actor stick around for quite some time in the role.

THOR: RAGNAROK hits theatres November 3, 2017, while AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is split into two films with PART I coming May 4, 2018 and PART II coming May 3, 2019.
