DIVERGENT

It was recently confirmed that director Robert Schwentke wanted a break after shooting back-to-back blockbusters in THE DIVERGENT SERIES and so Lionsgate has been looking for a replacement to make sure the film would remain on track for its June 9, 2017 release.

Well, we can now confirm that he final instalment of the sci-fi-action franchise will be directed by Lee Toland Krieger.

The studio was keen on Schwentke to finish his duties after replacing the first film’s Neil Burger. However, he’d recently decided to step away having exhausted himself directing both INSURGENT and the upcoming ALLEGIANT. He’s now been replaced by Krieger who is best known for the well-received fantasy romance AGE OF ADELINE and rom-com CELESTE AND JESSE FOREVER.

The main cast of Shailene Woodley, Miles Teller, Theo James and Naomi Watts will return to conclude the franchise based on the book series by Veronica Roth.
