Hugh Jackman’s final bout as the insanely popular Wolverine is still a huge mystery. It has been confirmed that WOLVERINE 3 will somehow adapt Mark Miller’s Old Man Logan series, which takes place over 50 years in a post-apocalyptic Marvel Comics Universe. Beyond this, we know very little about the film, but considering this is Jackman’s last time wearing the adamantium claws, wouldn’t it be great to see the Wolverine clash with one of his classic villains one last time?
That’s the exact mindset Hugh Jackman seems to have, who wants to see the X-Man face off against Victor Creed a.k.a. Sabertooth one last time. While nothing has been confirmed, X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE’s Liev Schreiber revealed that he has talked to Jackman regarding reprising the savage mutant one last time.
“We talked about it,” Schreiber told MTV News on the 2016 Academy Award’s red carpet. “I don’t know. He’s mentioned it to me. The ‘Old Man Logan’ story- that appealing. That’s something I can do. Old, being the operative word.”
Jackman and Schreiber were brothers-in-claws in 2009’s solo Wolverine feature, X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE. Despite the film being critically panned for it’s poor CGI and misuse of characters (to which DEADPOOL turned into a numerous jokes), Liev Schreiber’s performance was one of, if not the only thing people liked from the film. Given the film’s in which we have seen Sabertooth, it would be nice to see the evil mutant return for cinematic redemption.
However, none of this is confirmed. As Schreiber has stated, he has only talked to Jackman, so no one from Fox has approached him with a deal.
WOLVERINE 3 is expected 3rd March, 2017. The film is currently aiming for an R-rating.
