Things aren’t looking too good for Gambit at the moment, or are they? Fox have delayed the film again in what’s being cited as extensive script rewrites and the film now won’t start shooting until December 2016.
Fox are obviously reaping major rewards from DEADPOOL at the moment and one can’t help but wonder if the studio is wanting to take GAMBIT in a similar direction or, due to the big success of DEADPOOL and the newly crafted X-MEN Universe, are seizing the opportunity to not rush this and take their time with this project because they can somewhat lean on DEADPOOL 2. That’s being optimistic, however, the gloomier side of things points at Fox having a difficult time getting a solid script done where everyone’s happy.
Channing Tatum is still attached, as is director Doug Liman, though where this leaves co-star Lea Seydoux is unclear. Should the wheels finally start moving on GAMBIT we may likely see it sometime in 2018.
