Fans awaiting the first big-screen adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment’s role-playing game World of Warcraft don’t have too long to wait until the film, simply titled WARCRAFT (or WARCRAFT: THE BEGINNING in many international territories including the UK) is finally released.
Likely to be a massive hit with the GAME OF THRONES and VIKINGS crowd, SOURCE CODE and MOON director Duncan Jones is the talent tasked with laying the tracks for this future franchise which promises some stunning game-changing motion-capture visual-effects.
The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.
So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.
While we may have seen a couple of these designs teased before at SDCC, a collection of posters have officially been released, featuring characters from both The Horde and of The Alliance.
Starring Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Ruth Negga, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell, Clancy Brown, Ben Schnetzer, Rob Kazinsky and Daniel Wu, WARCRAFT is set for UK cinemas June 3 and the US June 10.
