James Gunn Confirms No Infinity Stones For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.2

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has done a damn good job at teasing out the bigger picture for what’s to come later on. From the beginning we’ve seen the Infinity Stones, a set of stones that fit the Infinity Gauntlet, granting the user with immense power.

The films that’ve included stones are CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER with the cosmic cube, which followed through in AVENGERS as well, with Loki’s staff holding the mind stone in that film, later being used in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. The Aether from THOR: THE DARK WORLD was the reality stone and the power stone featured heavily in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. It is also believed that we’ll see DOCTOR STRANGE hold the Time stone, which is located in the Eye of Agamotto which grants him his levitation abilities.

With just one stone left, being the soul stone, everyone has thought we may be seeing the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY sequel hold that one as a nice surprise, but James Gunn, director of VOL.2, has stated on Facebook that won’t be happening when asked.

“There will be no Infinity Stones in Vol. 2.,”

Very simply put there by Gunn, but when will the next stone show up? if things are correct then we’ll see the Time stone in DOCTOR STRANGE later this year and then that leaves BLACK PANTHER, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING or THOR: RAGNAROK to show off the final stone, unless it appears in the AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR film in 2018.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: VOL.2 hits theatres May 27, 2017.
