LUTHER is one of BBC’s top series when it’s on, but we just don’t get enough. Mainly because it was one of the shows that got star Idris Elba fairly well known, landing him in all sorts of huge film franchises over the years, but now it’s a little harder to get your hands on the actor for a return in LUTHER.

Last year we got the even shorter fourth series, which consisted of only two episodes. Originally the show started as six, before heading to two, two part episodes for series two and three. On the question whether we’ll see a fifth series, Elba had just the answer during a Twitter Q&A.

“Big chance. Watch this space.”

I mean, what does that even mean? A yes or no answer would have been sufficient Elba, but I guess “big chance” still sounds pretty good. It’s probably pretty difficult for Elba and creator Neil Cross to link up for some John Luther plans, but if SHERLOCK can continue with both Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman making room in their very busy schedules, then surely Elba can as well.

Let’s hope we hear more of LUTHER sooner rather than later.
