Tom Hardy has signed to play Al Capone for FANTASTIC FOUR director Josh Trank in a film entitled FONZO.
Hardy will play the gangster at the age of 47, near the end of his life, after a decade in prison. The film will follow Capone as he begins to suffer from dementia and his memories of running the Chicago Outfit of organized crime begin to bleed into the present.
Trank also wrote the script on this one and, considering he lost out on a STAR WARS gig, may feel like this film is his chance to garner some good faith following the flop of FANTASTIC FOUR. Hardy, meanwhile, can next be seen in Christopher Nolan’s DUNKIRK.
