With news only arriving yesterday of SNOW WHITE’s live-action treatment, another of Disney’s classics, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, is closer to cinema screens in live-action and we’ve received our first look at the film via a batch of images in Entertainment Weekly.
Starring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens and Luke Evans, who all feature in the images, the film will tell the story of Belle (Watson) who, upon becoming the prisoner of The Beast (Stevens), soon discovers that there is a heart to him that is magically linked to a rose he hides away inside the mansion he inhabits. Tensions rise in the nearby village, however, when Gaston (Evans), who covets Belle himself, leads a charge against The Beast in an attempt to free her.
We get a glimpse of Josh Gad’s Le Fou, Ian McKellen’s voiced Cogsworth, as well as Ewan McGregor’s Lumiere, Emma Thompson’s Mrs. Potts and Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s Plumette. Bill Condon is directing the film with Alan Menken providing music.
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST arrives March 17th.
