Dan Trachtenberg, who was the director of the surprising 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE, is in talks to direct a Houdini film that’s been around for a while, titled THE SECRET LIFE OF HOUDINI.
He’s eyeing a project that was once set to have Johnny Depp star for Dean Parisot, however that incarnation seems to be long gone by now. Joe Wright and Gary Ross have also taken a look at the script and toyed with the idea of directing but ultimately passing. The script is based upon William Kalush and Larry Sloman’s book, The Secret life Of Houdini, The Making Of America’s First Superhero which brought forward claims that the famous magician worked for the British Intelligence and the US Secret Service.
It’s early days for this one and Trachtenberg may still pass on it since he has his own project, CRIME OF THE CENTURY, in development.
