Doug Liman already has Daisy Ridley set for his YA adaptation CHAOS WALKING, now the director has added Tom Holland to the project.
The film is set upon Patrick Ness’ novels that have been going for a while now and have passed through the cinematic hands of Charlie Kaufman and James Linden (MONEY MONSTER). Ness recently saw another of his works, A MONSTER CALLS, receive a successful adaptation.
The trilogy focuses on humans in a dark future who have colonised a distant planet after Earth’s demise. However, an infection named the Noise strikes and all thoughts become reality and chaos follows. When a corrupt autocrat seizes upon this to control the humans in an attack on a native alien race, Todd Hewitt, the only boy in a town of men, goes on the run with his dog and teams with a mysterious girl (Ridley), who has the path to a patch of silence.
CHAOS WALKING is set for 2018. Holland, of course, can next be seen in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING but also has THE CURRENT WAR and PILGRIMAGE set for next year. Ridley has STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII set for 2017 as well as Kenneth Branagh’s MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS.
