Disney are currently assembling the cast for their upcoming film MARY POPPINS RETURNS but have left room for Dick Van Dyke, co-star of MARY POPPINS, to make an appearance in the film.
The actor revealed the news himself though there are no details on what type of role he’ll play, though we suspect it will be an older version of Bert. He joins Emily Blunt, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Meryl Streep, Lin-Manual Miranda and Colin Firth in the film that will be directed by Rob Marshall, working from a script written by David Magee.
The film concerns an older Michael (Whishaw) and Jane (Mortimer) who, after 25 years, need Mary Poppins (Blunt) to help them again in a depression-era London. Mary will need help though and so enlists cousin Topsy (Streep) and friendly lamplighter Jack (Miranda). The troubles that the siblings are facing may come in the form of William Weatherall Wilkins (Firth) who is now the president of the Fidelity Fiduciary Bank that was previously run by Mr Dawes.
MARY POPPINS RETURNS Christmas 2018.
