There has been rumblings that things weren’t going smoothly over at Warner Bros./DC with THE BATMAN, now official news has come that star Ben Affleck will not be directing the film, though he will still play the role.
In addition, Affleck will continue to produce the film and co-write it along with Geoff Johns. This is not welcome news for an already creatively stifled Warner who faced negativity when SUICIDE SQUAD and BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE were released last year and are faced with another search for a director since Rick Famuyiwa left THE FLASH recently and Joby Harold was brought in to rewrite.
There’s no solid names on who may take the duties, though early rumours have Matt Reeves as a potential candidate. Affleck can be seen as Batman in JUSTICE LEAGUE in November and the film in the DCEU is WONDER WOMAN, which lands on June 2nd.
