Diego Luna Is In Talks For The New SCARFACE

Diego Luna is in talks to take the lead in the remake of SCARFACE. However, should he sign, it won’t be for director Antoine Fuqua who has left the project.

Fuqua has had to leave due to commitments on a sequel for THE EQUALIZER, with Sony wanting things to get moving later this year. Luna is very much attached to this but nothing official has come just yet. Should he sign, he’ll lead the story of an immigrant chasing the American dream, willing to go to any means necessary. The new version, written by Terence Winter, has the protagonist being Mexican, as opposed to Italian which Al Pacino immortalized in the 1983 film.

Universal are keen to keep this one going and now begin the search for a new director with the hope of shooting later this year. Luna was last seen in ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY and has FLATLINERS set to release later this year.
