With things not being too rosy right now over at Warner Bros. and DC when it comes to the DCEU (go here for information), one project that’s remained relatively unscathed is James Wan’s AQUAMAN which today has news regarding Nicole Kidman and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in talks for roles.
Should she sign, Kidman will play Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman’s mother, Atlanna. Abdul-Mateen is in line to play Black Manta, one of Aquaman’s villains. The film already has Mamoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe and Patrick Wilson in the cast and is aiming for an October 5th, 2018 release date.
Momoa’s AQUAMAN will be seen in JUSTICE LEAGUE later this year, November 17th. Kidman is heading towards the Oscar’s thanks to her role in LION, but has Sofia Coppola’s THE BEGUILED, Yorgas Lanthimos’ THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER and TV series BIG LITTLE LIES set for this year. Abdul-Mateen, since his role in THE GET DOWN, has been in demand and can be seen in BAYWATCH and THE GREATEST SHOWMAN this year.
