Studio Ghibli and animation legend Hayao Miyazaki just can’t stay away. He supposedly went into retirement in 2013 but now, at the age of 76 and at a difficult time for Ghibli, the studio was pausing all current productions at the time, Miyazaki is now coming out of the retirement for a new film that will be done at Ghibli.
There’s no exact knowledge on what the film will be but Miyazaki was working on a short last year, BORO THE CATERPILLAR, and was flirting with the idea of making that project into a feature-length film. There’s every possibility that project could be what Miyakazi is now working on.
He brought the film to his longtime producer Toshio Suzuki who he’s currently working on the film with.
